Health and Social Care Level 2

This wide ranging Diploma covers the skills and knowledge needed to care for others in a broad range of Health or Social Care settings.

This qualification is flexible, to suit all fields of Health and Social Care. Participants can choose a pathway that suits their role, for example People with Dementia.

This nationally recognised qualification is the main level 2qualification required by the Quality Care Commission in England and is offered through City & Guilds awarding body.

The above Apprenticeship qualification consists of:

  • Diploma in Health & Social Care Apprenticeship Level 2
  • Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care Level 2
  • Functional Skills English Level 1
  • Functional Skills Maths Level 1
  • Employment Rights and Responsibility (ERR)

Qualification Structure

To achieve the Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) for England, Learners must achieve a minimum of 46 credits.

Generic Pathway

  • A minimum of 2 credits and a maximum of 7 credits from the optional units in Group B
  • At least 15 credits from the optional units in Group C
  • 24 credits from the mandatory units In Group A

Dementia Pathway

  • 24 credits from the mandatory units in Group A
  • A minimum of 2 credits and a maximum of 7 credits from the optional units in Group B but must complete: DEM 201 Dementia Awareness
  • At least 15 credits from the optional units in Group C but one of the following must be completed : DEM 204,DEM 209, DEM210 OR DEM 211

Adults with Learning Disabilities Pathway

  • 24 credits from the mandatory units in Group A
  • A minimum of 2 credits and a maximum of 7 credits from the optional units in Group B but must complete: LD201 Understand the context of supporting and individual with learning  disabilities
  • At least 15 credits form the optional units in Group C but one of the following must be completed: LD202, LD203

To achieve the Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care, candidates will need to complete 20 credits from 9 mandatory units.

For this part of the qualification participants will need to complete one assignment for each of the 9 mandatory units.

The programme consists of assessment of performance by work based observation, product evidence, witness testimonies and questioning, plus assignments and projects. 

Additional support is provided via email, Skype and on the telephone with the Assessor and the Administration team throughout the programme. 

Progression

  • On completion of this programme participants could continue on to the Diploma in Health & Social Care L3 

Funding

Full funding for the Apprenticeship in Dental Nursing is available for learners aged 16 – 18 years old.

Aged 19 and over there could be a contribution towards the cost of the qualification dependant on funding criteria and candidates prior achievement.

Duration

The Apprenticeship qualification takes up to twelve months to complete.

Start dates available throughout the year.

Venue

This qualification is delivered in the workplace.
